After some reading, I am trying to use laplink pcmover, but having trouble translating from your article on windows easy transfer into using pcmover, particularly in exactly where and how far to drill down in folder structure of my c: drive on old pc to get to the required folders and files for my email folders in old thunderbird. please note I have already installed and configured thunderbird on my new windows 10 pc, so I now just need to bring over all old email, with all my folders, into thunderbird on new windows 10 pc.

Your situation is that you want to move your old email (folders and everything) from one computer to another? If so you don't need to mess around with 'easy transfer' programs: simply copy your old Thunderbird profile to a memory stick and then copy it again to the new machine. Instructions are here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-tb ('restoring to a different location' is the crucial bit for you, but I'd advise that you read the whole article -- and keep a safe backup copy of the old profile in case things go wrong)
