Every time I open the Firefox browser, a pop up appears asking if I want it to be my default browser, even though I uncheck it each time.
Under the Options--General Tab, the box is defaulted as checked to make Firefox my default browser unless I have unchecked the pop up box which appears every time I open the browser asking me if I want Firefox to be the default browser. When I uncheck that box, then it also clears the box under the Options--General Tab. This only started happening after the last update..does anyone know how I might fix this or is it something that Mozilla has built in to their program now to try and force me to make their browser my primary?
I have tried exiting the browser and reopening, rebooting my computer after unchecking the box, etc. and the pop up still returns the next time I open the Firefox browser.
Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

This problem has been answered before. Here is the link: answered problem
There is a more advanced solution in the link as well. However this is the basic solution:
Open Tools->Options->Advanced settings page. 1. On the General tab switch off "Always check to see if Firefox...". 2. On the Update tab select "Never check for updates...". 3. "OK" and manually restart FF.
If the issue does not occur more try enable update checking on Tools->Options->Advanced->Update tab.

Thank you for the reply, I will try this. I did a search for the problem, but the solutions all seemed to be about how to make the browser the default instead of my particular issue, so I appreciate your assistance.
If you do not keep changes after a restart or otherwise have problems with preferences, see:
You can also try run the Firefox program once as Administrator (right-click: Run as Administrator) in case there is a problem with the Windows Registry.
