screen blinks when pop out window displayed

When using my email package via the browser interface (Mdaemon from Altn) and composing an email a pop out window appears with the email to be composed. This works fine apart from the fact that the screen flashes. This does not happen if the window is made full screen and also happens if the pop out is over another app e.g. word rather than the browser. this is a reasonably recent occurrence which doesn't coincide with any software additions but seemed to happen after a firefox update?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe websites. Is the problem still there?
