How can I stop Yahoo being my default every time Firefox upgrades?

more options

Every time Firefox does an update it changes my default search engine to Yahoo from Google. I have put setting to try to stop this but it keeps on doing it and changing my home page to Yahoo, so i have to reset that too.

If I cannot find a cure, I will have to stop using Firefox and migrate to Chrome I guess.

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Remove “ Yahoo “ Anything. Also look for SafeSearch or SearchAssist Incognito.

Now do the same in the computer’s Programs Folder.

Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the Applications folder. Linux: Check your user manual.

Your default search engine should not change when Firefox updates, unless the Refresh feature runs. The tell-tale sign is that an Old Firefox Data folder appears on your desktop, and you would have a lot of settings changes and the extensions you added would be removed.

If only your default search engine changes, one of your extensions may be the culprit. The next time you see this, could you copy/paste the URL of the Yahoo results page? The URL may contain parameters pointing in the direction of the cause of the problem.
