I cannot get Firefox to remember my password for Yahoo, I cannot contact them, all I can do is change my password, but then I can't go in and update it. It remembers my other passwords for Hotmail, Netscape, but not Yahoo. I have to enter it every time, it's bull... I am tempted, if I could contact Yahoo, and get a straight answer to close my Account with them. I know you can't help with this. I'm fed up with it. I'm also tempted to take Firefox off the computer and find a different browser. Thanks.

Hi  !

Some websites use the Autocomplete="off" attribute, which is the case with Yahoo.

To circumvent this restriction you could use a bookmarklet

Or put up with having to fill in your password ......

But leaving Firefox, while Firefox is not to blame - you don't really want to do that, do you  ?

A detail like a website remembering you (log you in automatically) is stored in a cookie.

You can use these steps to make a website recognize and remember you:

  • create an "Allow" exception to keep specific cookies, especially in case of secure websites and when cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Cached Web Content: "Clear Now": Exceptions

Let the cookies expire when Firefox is closed to make them session cookies instead of using "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear the cookies.

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> "Use custom settings for history" -> Cookies: Keep until: "I close Firefox"

You can create an "Allow" exception to keep specific cookies.

In case you use "Clear history when Firefox closes" or otherwise clear history.

  • do not clear the Cookies
  • do not clear the Site Preferences
  • clearing "Site Preferences" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exception for password and other website specific data
  • clearing "Cookies" will remove all selected cookies including cookies with an "Allow" exception you may want to keep
