How to stop updating because important ad-ons are not supported
Answer: You can't. There are no FTP clients available for your new "updated" version. And no matter what you do. It never stops trying to update. Do you even care at all about your users Mozilla? You preach net neutrality and that we should have a right to choose and then you shove this down our throats. Well, if I update, then I can't work on your browser. You need to, as a company, take a chill pill and stop forcing downloads and updates. We have enough of that from Microsoft. Don't be assholes. I tried uploading images to prove what's going on but of course your website can't upload them.

I had deleted all my updater files. Good to know there is an earlier safe version. It's still a pain to have to repeatedly install software to any device or revert an earlier version of Firefox already installed and updated. By May 2018 there should be more of a variety of compatible add-ons.

For security reasons: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/security/advisories/mfsa2017-24/
RIGHT. So I am allowed to have the old browser but be constantly harassed by you for "security reasons". Your new secure browser has had A LOT more changes than "security". The "security" updates are not what is making it - first of all ugly, if I may, and second of all useless. thanks for nothing! good day
The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers.
If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select Submit Feedback... or use this link. Your feedback gets collected by a team of people who read it and gather data about the most common issues.
Here are your choices; 1) Contact its support and ask if they will update 2) Find a replacement 3) Downgrade to a prior Firefox 4) Do without
I know my options. I have already ended this conversation.
I am glad to hear that your problem has been resolved. If you haven't already, please select the answer that solves the problem. This will help other users with similar problems find the solution more easily.
Thank you for contacting Mozilla Support.
Do you really need the fireFTP extension? when there are several good quality FTP clients out there like the popular long time open source FileZilla FTP client (no relation to Mozilla).

Yea. I do. I need to work from the browser. I need flexibility with what device I am using. Hey. I have an idea. Mind your own business.

Yes as I use Filezilla and using a separate program is not a bother see if can find something through this https://mozilla.github.io/extension-finder/ but i doubt it.
Going back/or : unfortunately 56.0.2 is no longer safe to use for every day use do to secuity issues, but 52.5.0 ESR is. It will continue to get security updates until May 2018, and you can download and install it from this page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/ Note : Legacy Extensions will be deleted or removed in any version update after May 2018.
You should make a backup of your Profile before going back and just because: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

You can. Delete the updater files.
