on firefox 56 on linux, in my webmail tab I now frequently see a warning bar appear telling me

" to play audio, you may need to install pulseaudio ..."

In my case I do not want this tab to play audio and also do not want to install pulseaudio. How do I tell firefox that I have seen and understood this message and do not want it to appear again?

[ background : I understand the recent change from using alsa to using pulseaudio and am not asking about that.

I am asking about how to tell firefox not to continually show me the same message. E.g. an option to tell it "Do not show me this message ever again" ]

Try clearing the value of media.decoder-doctor.notifications-allowed in about:config. Double left click the pref --> erase the field --> OK, restart Firefox.

Many thanks Moses, I have cleared the field and will check tomorrow that no more of those pulseaudio warnings appear, and if none at end of day tomorrow I'll mark it solved.

Thanks again

Clearing that config variable has prevented the warning from appearing.
