My home page, Foxnews.com cannot run on 57.0.4 without an error message about a page slowing down the browser. It happens every time I try to load a page within the site. My computer has been professionally tuned up with all the caches cleaned, and I run the fastest fiber optic service that Comcast offers. By comparison, Safari runs the same site effortlessly, like lightning. This problem never occurred with the previous version of Firefox. How do I overcome this problem?

There is no FF57.0.3 release, so where did you get FF57.0.4? If this is a beta release I would advise not using it. Beta are for testing only and not something you should use for everyday task.

I am not using a beta version. I recently (December) downloaded the latest version off the Mozilla site. It is marked 57.0.4 (64 bit). The site tells me the version I have loaded on my computers is up to date. Never had the described problem with the previous version.

I found there was a update to .0.4 now but the problem your describing - I have no issue going to the fox site and displaying news there. No slow downs or hiccups.

I'm having the same problem on two computers, even from different service providers. And I checked the data delivery speed, which is excellent. Plus one of the computers was just optimized by my Mac consultant. Never had this issue with the previous version of Firefox. I'm going to switch to Safari, which runs like a deer, until the next version of Firefox.

uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0.4 with a Full Version Installer

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Sorry please do the MAC equivalent of deleting those folders and please ignore Disk Cleanup info. I hit enter as I was about to edit it. Thank You

Firefox 57.0.3 was the previous update released on Dec 28 to fix a crash reporting issue and the 57.0.4 was just released on Jan 4th to address the Meltdown (for Intel) and Spectre timing attacks

Despite all the suggestions, Firefox continues to give an error message "A page is slowing down your browser." I keep checking it against Safari, and Safari performs as expected, while Firefox hangs up. This is occurring on different sites (with large amounts of data shown) and pages within the sites (with smaller amounts of data.) Firefox is definitely running slower than Safari overall.

go to the Firefox 3 Bar Menu --> Options --> Privacy & Security panel and under Permissions check (put a tick in the box) the setting to Prevent Accessibility Services from accessing your browser.

Monitor in Task Manager. Should stay below 2 gigs. If excessive then do below and monitor and change if need to...Test and go up again , go back down, it will eventually get a zone you and it can live with.

Go to the 3 Bar Menu then Options --> General --> Performance and untick everything. change the recommended size lower then see how it runs. Note: 1 = No Multiprocessor = slow again. Try 2 Restart Firefox after making these changes please.

Note : Hardware Acceleration is for Video Card, Monitor to see if remain off or to turn back on.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

I sincerely appreciate the efforts from all of you support contributors, but after following all your recommendations, the problem persists. I took both my laptop and desktop Mac computers to my Mac service consultant. He optimized them confirmed all your tweaks, purged all malware, tested upload and download speed and ping, ran the computers on a different Internet service provider, etc. Problem persists, mostly on foxnews.com, but also on some other high-load sites. I have switched to Safari, where the issue doesn't exist. I will reconsider Firefox with the next upgrade. BTW. I didn't have the issue with the last version of Firefox.

The last Firefox did not have Multi-processor support and ver 58 brings Multi-Thread support so going backwards when give up so quick.

Why fox news gave you issue is their page is full of scripts and cookies/trackers and images and preload and running things that most websites do not have. Like CBS or CBC

The answer for the issue would have been this if waited till had more info from you : go to the Firefox 3 Bar Menu --> Options --> Privacy & Security panel and under Permissions check (put a tick in the box) the setting to Prevent Accessibility Services from accessing your browser.

It's apparent that the Fox News site has too much activity for the current version of Firefox. I did all of the above, and my Mac tech repeated it, and we still can't get the site to run properly. Safari works effortlessly. So i'll use it until your next version, which will probably overcome these issues. Again, I sincerely appreciate your ongoing effort. Mike
