I have A ZTE K90U tablet, OS Android V6.0 with Firefox V53.0 on it. And an Alcatel Firce4 model 5056N cell phone. OS Android V6.0 with Firefox V57.0 on it.

My problem is I can't get the add-on called "QuitNow" to install on my phone. I keep getting the error message saying "Not Compatible with the version of Firefox that you are running". Yet the add-on "QuitNow" works just fine on my ZTE tablet. What gives?

Steve

As of FF57 only Webextensions are supported by Firefox. QuitNow hasn't been convert to a Webextension, and presumably never will be.

I'm not sure why you'd want a quit button in the first place.

Because, without the "QuitNow" Firefox for Android opens to the last web page that I was at instead of the home page that I have setup.

I changed the version of Android Friefox on my phone from v57.0 to v53.0 that is on my tablet. The "QuitNow" works on my tablet but still not on my phone. I keep getting "This add-on is not compatible with your version of Firefox". Why?

You could simply open a new tab, and you got your home page. There is no need to 'quit' the app, it can just keep running in the background.

Downgrading to an old version with known vulnerabilities is a bad idea.

I don't know. Perhaps you didn't install the version you think you did.

1st off when Firefox is running in the background it is using up resources. Cell connection at my apt, inside, is bad. I live in a cell phone hole, 1 maybe 2 bars in my room if I am lucky. At home to do anything internet wise on my phone I have to connect the phone to my wi-fi connection via the landline.

When I open Firefox, like the 1st time that day, Firefox auto goes to the last page that was open. Even if it was many days ago that I opened Firefox last. With the "QuitNow" in place. It makes Android Firefox shut down like Firefox for Windows does (that I use). If I can't fix this problem with Android Firefox. I will have to use Android Google Chrome on my phone. Android Google Chrome I can shut completely down like it's Windows counterpart with 1 click, it has the quit button in the menu. Other then this 1 problem. I like Android Firefox over Android Google Chrome. For the same reasons I use Firefox on my Windows laptop over Google Chrome. The big thing is the tab's and the menu setup on the Windows Firefox I like over Google Chrome. And Internet Explorer is to unstable and prone to virus's and so on.

PS: I don't understand why the horz slider bar is in on under the 2nd paragraph.

It surely does, but very little. And so does every other Android app without a Quit button. And I know very few which actually have that kind of 'quit' functionality. Resources are managed by the Android OS, there is no need to 'quit' an app.

This is what probably most users are doing. I don't see how this is related to the question at hand though.

It may be shocking news, but UI concepts for mobile devices are slightly different compared to Windows Desktop.

That is entirely up to you.

Not sure which version you're using, I haven't seen such a button in Chrome. And again, using an old version is a bad idea.

Because you put a space as the first character in that line.
