Turn off authentication prompts for a gmail account I no longer can access. I don't want to remove the account from Thunderbird. (No add-ons installed.)
While I was the Assistant Robotics Coach at a nearby private school I was provided with an official school email address (gmail hosted). Due to budget decisions they are going with parent volunteers this year. My access to their email has been cut off, as it should be.
I want to retain all of the email in Thunderbird but I don't want to keep getting prompted to authenticate to that gmail account. I am literally *pestered* every few minutes with multiple Thunderbird pop-ups to "Sign-in with Google".
I have gone into the <Server Settings> for that account and cleared "Check for new messages at startup", "Check for new messages every [ ] minutes", and "Allow immediate server notifications when new messages arrive".
I do not have any Thunderbird add-ons, like a calendar, which could also be attempting to connect to this account.
How do I get Thunderbird to stop trying to connect to a non-active account?
Thank you,

Create a folder under the Thunderbird Local Folders account and copy the messages there. When you are sure the messages are moved and you can open and read them delete the old gmail account.
I tried doing that as suggested. However, I could not copy the contents directly to the new folder. I had to first create a subfolder called InBox *then* copy the contents of the email account InBox to the new InBox. That is no help for all of the other subfolders. There are a lot of subfolders. It is just too tedious.
PLUS, I'll have to repeat the entire process for my PC (I first tried it on my laptop) which I also use for email and have the same accounts setup on it.
There *used* to be the option (in previous versions of Thunderbird) to just deselect accounts Thunderbird would sync.
As it stands new, every few minutes I get prompted to "sign on to gmail...". I have to close that prompt 14 times. I counted! 14 times I have to close the prompt. Every few minutes! This is true for both computers!
There has to be an easier way to just tell Thunderbird to not sync that account. Please help.
Thank you.
