the downloaded .pdf LOOKS fine on screen. prints out with wonky kerning and text size. But if I save the file, open it in Adobe and print it, it prints fine. Is there some set-up I am missing to do directly from my Firefox browser? I am tired of this extra step.

Where is the pdf from?

Firefox's built-in PDF viewer actually converts the PDF to HTML first. As a result, its fidelity is not as good as programs which work directly with PDFs.

I don't know why the screen view is better than the printed output. ??

As WestEnd mentioned, it could be helpful to see some examples of files that print especially badly so someone could look for possible explanations, such as fonts that Firefox doesn't handle well.

By the way, in case it's faster, you don't need to re-save the PDF to print it. You can click the Download button on the PDF viewer's toolbar and use Open to view it directly in Adobe Acrobat from cache or the Windows temp folder (or wherever Firefox stored it temporarily).

occurs with any and every document downloaded from a website -- regardless of the file content -- just standard text. every single time I print. .
