This is a very long-standing problem. There are some bug reports, but I cannot figure out what they are saying. When I change the criteria for a search, these criteria are not saved, even when I do a saved search. What is the problem in saving these criteria? It is possible to save the criteria for the Thunderbird main screen, so I assume Mozilla knows how to do this. I want to be able to search fields such as From, To -- instead of Correspondents, for example. Should be able to call up the Search screen and see my selected criteria, rather than the defaults.

What bug. I don't have time to go looking for them and they are the canonical position with a change. So if you list them perhaps I can interpret.

Ok so there is a proposed patch waiting review. It has been waiting 2 days.

I am guessing that will make it into TB78 in about a years time. It might be back-ported to the release version 68, but that will not occur until after the patch is approved and committed and a request to do so will not be entertained until the primary patch has been accepted.
