If you want to use dictate in an online office document you have to allow the microphone permission which is fine. However, after the mic times out and you want to continue dictation you have to allow permission again and again.....why doesn't it stick? This does not happen in chromium. Once you have given mic permission there it sticks until you exit the document.

Did you check the microphone permission in "Tools -> Page Info -> Permissions" ?

You can try to use a policies.json file to create an allow permission for that host.

I notice you use Firefox from the Ubuntu repositories. You can give Firefox from the Mozilla server a try to see whether that version behaves differently.

Thanks for this. The tools-> etc points to rldbf-my.sharepoint.com which is allowed but when I click on dicate it comes up with allow ukc-word-edit-officeapps.live.com The policies.json is more than I am prepared to do when chromium works fine... Also - in windows it does the same thing so it's not a linux version problem.
