Address bar in 75.0 doesn't work the same as in 74.0.1
In 74.0.1, when I clicked into the address bar, the previous contents were completely selected by a black background and I could type a new URL or search. In 75.0, I am not able to click into the address bar. I am shown a dropdown list of suggestions but cannot edit or type over the previous address. How can I restore the 74.0.1 behavior?

Hello Mike Janus,
This is a temporary fix (so I'm told), but I am optimistically hoping that they will give us the opportunity to permanently disable this new feature.
Would you do this please :
Type in the address bar about:config and press Enter. (ignore the warning)
Type in the search bar and look for the preference :
browser.urlbar.openViewOnFocus
and set its value to false
Do the same with these preferences :
browser.urlbar.update1
browser.urlbar.update1.interventions
browser.urlbar.update1.searchTips
Then close and restart Firefox.

You can triple click the location bar to actually select the content and replace the current content with new text when you start typing.
The triple-click didn't work for some reason. But thanks for suggesting it.
McCoy, THANKS very much for your help and suggestions. It worked and mow my address bar functions as it should. Very much appreciate the help.

My pleasure, Mike.
Let's just hope that they'll give us the opportunity to permanently disable this "new feature'.
