My control + F function doesn't highlight the search term once I've typed it in. Nor does "Quick find" nor "Highlight when typing". I click the up or down arrow, but no reaction - not even a change of colour in the find bar or "no results".

I've tried selecting and deselecting all the search refinements on the bar. Tried entering a term that's visible in the window. Tried disabling the extensions I've installed since this problem first arose. No highlights. And I haven't recently changed my preferences.

I'm running Version 81.0 (64-bit) Linux Mint 1.0.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Try the Firefox version from the official Mozilla server if you currently use a version from the repositories of your Linux distribution.
