trouble transferring thunderbird to new laptop; address book did not transfer but emails did
I bought a samsung galaxy laptop that had to be returned to Costco within the 90 day period because of multiple problems that Billings Tech Guys company said indicated it should be returned and would be too expensive to fix if it could be fixed. So I tried to install thunderbird to the new samsung galaxy pro laptop I am currently using. I got the emails, but the address book was just blank. What happened to the addresses? How can I find them?

I put the profiles from thunderbird on the old computer into dropbox. But when I tried to put them onto the new laptop that file turned out to be empty even though it said it was 15GB. I couldn't get any addresses off it and now the old computer has been wiped and returned already

re: I put the profiles from thunderbird on the old computer into dropbox.
I need to know what folder you are getting off dropbox as it is important and can make a difference.
What exactly have you got on dropbox ?
Did you copy/backup the 'Thunderbird' folder to dropbox ?
Meaning this Thunderbird folder :
C://Users/User name/Appdata/Roaming/Thunderbird
OR
Did you just copy the actual 'profile name' folders to dropbox ?
Profile name folders are located in the 'Profiles' folder:
C://Users/User name/Appdata/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles/'profile name'
The 'profile name' folders that look similar to this: 'abc1245t.default' or 'abc1245t.default-release '
