After downloading a file from Google Drive, Firefox 1) annoyingly does not ask me in which folder to download the file and 2) opens a preview of the document

As mentioned Firefox, unlike Chrome, does not ask me where I want to download a file on my computer. I have it checked to "Always ask me where to download the file" and yet it still does not. Additionally when downloading PDFs it opens another tab as a preview for the document in question that I have just opened, but I do not want it to it is quite annoying. Thank you for your help.

I post many times text on how to do this but any posted links on this gets removed when it's posted.

The posts were hidden, not removed. It was wrong information as what you kept posting was only applicable for Firefox 98.0 to 101.0 while for 102.0 to current there is a newer Preference. I have told you this in replies to you and PM's many times but you ignore it.

Below the setting you mention, under the heading Applications, have you selected Always ask?

If that doesn't solve the problem, there is a preference you might change in about:config. I'll post details if required.

You can change what Firefox does when you download a PDF. By default, Firefox will show the PDF in a tab. If you want to decide for each one where to view it, or where to save it, you can change your PDF setting from "Open in Firefox" to "Always ask". If you pretty much never want to view PDFs in a Firefox tab, you can change the setting to "Save File". This article has the steps: View PDF files using Firefox’s built-in viewer.

Can you find a setting that works the way you want?
