Displaying number of emails/items in a local folder
Hi, Before this latest udate i have 128.4.0esr (64-bit) all my local folders showed the number of unread messages in them. Now some do and some dont. I am not a computer wizard so simple step by step directions/suggestions to resolve this issue would be appreciated Thank you Stephen

re : all my local folders
There is a special account called 'Local Folders' which can be used to locally store important emails should you need to get them off the server to create space or just need additional copy in case of loss on server. Any Pop mail account can be set up as a deferred account to use a Global Inbox - Local Folders Inbox.
Pop accounts download and store on computer and pop accounts can be considered an independent copy because those folders do not synchronise with server. Imap accounts can only display whatever is on server and all imap folders sycnhronise with server. You cannot consider these folders as a true independent copy, although if all imap folders full download copies of emails they can be used to create a backup.
In Thunderbird, when someone says 'local folders', it's assumed you mean 'Local Folders' account. If you mean any folder in any mail account, then it's best to state eg: pop account folders or imap account folders or a deferred pop account using Local Folders as a Global Inbox. Or state if issue is effecting all folders in all acounts no matter whether pop or imap.
Sorry to prattle on but I'm just looking to know what you specifically mean by 'local folders'.
This is where you choose to show/hide counts for total count /size. In 'Folder Pane Header' toolbar - where you see the cloud download icon and the '+New Message' button - on far right are 3 horizontal dots = drop down menu. Clickon 3 dots and select desired options such as Total and size.
The 'unread' count should be auto displayed by default. Can you post an image which shows a selected folder in the Folder Pane that says there are no unread mails, but on the right side - the list clearly shows unread mail - I don't need to see all the details of emails - it would suffice to see the 'sort by read' column - it shows green dots for unread mail, so click on the column header icon to sort by unread - it should put all the unread at the top and display those green dots.
So selected folder in Folder Pane says no unread but clearly shows emails with green dot displaying.
Toad Hi, Tx you takeing the time to respond. I have imap accounts. By local folder i mean in Thunderbird when opened below the in,sent boxes etc..i have a local folders in bold and within that i have many specific destination email folders ..some people use the term email that have been created by a filter so when received it gets directed to that email folder within the local folders. Right now and I would appreciate it if you have a answer for this, when I receive a e mail some of the e mail folders or filters show a flag next to the name of the email folder with the number of emails received and these are unread.
Th used to be like that and I had zero problem..once I open the folder, click on the email and read it, it changed from bold to non bold and the flag went away...worked super well for many many years.
Now and I do not how this happend I have 128.4.0esr maybe it happend after a update, I have some folders that show that flag yet after reading the email it still shows it as bold as being unread and I have to click that green dot to change it to unread.
However other folders dont show anything and when I open it they are in bold or have a spam indicator ie sort by spam status star...yet all these same folders I have been useing for years and never have had any problem with them as being spam...yet now no indicator flag to show it as haveing a unread e mail and they have this possible spam star. The only way I know that there are unread new e mail's in these folders is that I have a gmail back up of all my e mail and I see them in gmail. So simply put how do i direct TH to show for all those folders or filtered email folders that. Tx u again for yorur time
