Mobile Firefox does not support the iPad, just like it doesn't support the iPhone.

You're kidding me! No way! Do you know when it will?

We can't deliver Firefox itself to iPhone users because of Apple's restrictions. However, Mozilla has created an iPhone app that will sync bookmarks/tabs/history from Firefox to your iPhone. This app will be released next month. For details, see:

wish i'd known of apple's restrictions. i just opened the box and am trying to figure out why i bought the iPad. i'm not an iPhone user - AT&T service is so bad in the Santa Fe NM USA area.

Safari is a completely useless browser and is the single reason will never purchase another apple product. No support for half of the protocols out there, simply because they can't figure out how to secure the browser appropriately, is a pathetic excuse in this day and age. Apple should get off their egos and enable a full web experience or at least warn the potential buyer of e crap browser they are forced to use. Solution: don't buy apple until they disclose ALL info about the product you are buying...it's sad enough that they charge you 10% for trying to return a faulty product, faulty given the false advertising and poor browsing experience with their products.

Why can't we have firefox on the iPad?

Apple's restrictions on iPhone and iPad apps do not allow us to distribute a web browser like Firefox that uses its own JavaScript and HTML interpreters.

How can I connect iPad with hdmi cable

Two statements here are very contradictory, especially since Safari uses standards based protocols. The issue is Firefox is using ITS own interpreters...which is what Apple currently does not allow.

Mmmm... this compliency issue sounds familiar from when MS didn't whan't any other web browser than IE to run on their OS, i wonder why???

Ohh well... i guess will have to hack the hell out of it, so WE the end users can have the much needed cross platform availability we demand.

By the way, MAC products SUCK...!!! No real cross platform software, or any thing good any way. The most expensive hardware and software out there. Why would any one what that? O yes, I remember, its for those or most that don't know sh*t about IT.

P

VIVA Linux & all it's distros...!!!

Firefox Home for iPhone/iPod/iPad is now available in the App Store: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/mobile/home/

Um you mean a proxies version of firefox...right?

Firefox Home for iOS is not a web browser; it is an app that syncs history and bookmarks from Firefox to your iPhone. It uses the iPhone's built in WebKit engine to open web pages, or it can open them in Safari.

Ed. m you must be confused.

Apple makes their software FOR the Windows platform. Microsoft does not currently make Access or Outlook for Mac, though at least Outlook is coming according to them. Access NEVER will.

Apple gives away free iTunes for PC. Filemaker, a native Apple OS software, is cross platform. Canvas. Cross platform Adobe software...cross platform (started on Mac).

Microsoft abandoned Windows Media player development for Mac and turned it over to a 3rd party developer.

In fact, Microsoft AND Apple have actually settled very well into a tit for tat relationship with regards to cross platform development.

So your point is a fallacy at best. Microsoft makes more money on their Mac software than they do on their PC software...because they charge more for it! We pay a premium just to be on our OS of choice. So be happy we are or Microsoft might not have as much money with their $30 per share stock as Apple with their $250 per share stock. Yeah, you read that right. Apple with a $250 per share stock is now worth more than Microsoft. Hmm. Go figure. With 10% marketshare, they've passed Microsoft in market cap and margin sales.

That must REALLY bite you in the butt.

Am I right in thinking that I cannot launch Safari or another browser (say Atomic Web Browser) on my iPad using my bookmarks in Firefox Home?

Kurvenal, you can use Firefox Home to open web pages in Safari on your iPad. Open the web page in Firefox Home, then tap the button in the bottom right and press "View in Safari":

why is then that Opera is allowed in the app-store, it is another browser?

It's Opera Lite, a very VERY stripped down version.

so... now that the new DMCA legislation basically gives permission to "circumvent" the iPhone... perhaps a version of Firefox could be created for those of us who "circumvent" our phones?
