Why do new tabs open when I attempt to access some pages on the Internet?
At some websites, especially wikipedia and some other wikis, a new tab will automatically open with "www.xn--1e1-0ma" in its search bar. I do not understand why this happens and it bothers me because several new tabs open causing lag and the frustration to actually close each of the new tabs. Also, when the website loads, it turns into a Verizon (my internet provider) search for "www.1eï1.com" in which there are no relevant results to that.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.
