I have created several desktop shortcuts to take me to favorite websites. Recently they no longer take me to the sits but just open Firefox in my homepage instead.

What changed to cause this problem?

The shortcuts work properly with ie as the default browser.

Hello,

Check its link, if the link isnt correct Firefox will open only the Home Page. Click with right button mouse on the shortcut, click on proprieties see if the URL is correct.

You can check for issues caused by extensions.

If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.

Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit)

Make sure that Firefox is set correctly as the default browser.

The address is correct.

When I set the default browser to IE the shortcut links work.

Looks like some tweek in Firefox, does it not?

You can also check the target line in the Firefox desktop shortcut (right-click: Properties) to make sure that nothing is appended after the path to the Firefox program.

First thing I checked. Path is correct.

Although I always opened the desired site by double clicking on the shortcut, I decided to try the following.

After first opening Firefox and restoring the window to a size that allowed a partial display of the desktop, I dragged the shortcut to the Firefox Window. That method worked! More steps than a simple double clic on the shortcut.
