Could you give a link to the page that isn't working, assuming an account isn't needed to access it.
If you try the MP3 on this test site, does it play?
Firefox's built-in ability to play MPEG-encoded media through its built-in HTML5 player requires the Media Foundation components of Windows.
Some users may have blocked this from within Firefox in order to make it easier to download MP3s. To double-check on that:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the filter box, type or paste media and pause while the list is filtered
(3) If media.windows-media-foundation.enabled is in bold type and "user set" to false, double-click to switch its value back to true.
(4) If media.windows-media-foundation.play-stand-alone is in bold type and "user set" to false, double-click to switch its value back to true.
Then try reloading the tab with the MP3.
If Firefox is set to use Media Foundation and it still doesn't work, maybe something is missing from Windows. Another Windows 7 user reported that they were able to fix a problem with Media Foundation using a download from Microsoft:
Solved the problem, installed the Windows Media Feature Pack (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968211) which gives you the Media Player, DVD Maker and Media Center. I've deactivated those three via the Control Panel and still got MP3 support. :D
