When I open a new page, more than half the time, the page stops loading and the previous page reloads. I am not hitting the back button (as a previous post) space button... it just does it automatically. Very frustrating. Please provide a solution that does not involve disabling add-ons.

This issue is likely caused by an extension, so you won't come around with at least trying troubleshooting installed extensions.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

You can start with Tab related extensions.

If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.

Close and restart Firefox after each change via *"3-bar" menu button > Exit (Power button)

  • Windows: File > Exit
  • Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox
  • Linux: File > Quit

If you have many extensions then first enable half of the extensions to test which half has the problem. Continue to divide the bad half that still has the issue until you find which one is causing it.

I tried it, logged in in safe mode, all extensions disabled and sorry to say but it did not work. Still keeps reloading the previous page. I don't have a custom theme, and I only run 4 add ons (ad block and ad block plus, awesome screenshot and ghostery)

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

Thanks for your response. I didn't have a pporfile so I created one. It is still happening. Not as often as before but none the less still doing it. :-(

It's still doing it. Worse than before. This is ridiculous. I'm done with Firefox, back to Safari. Maybe I'll come back once there has been an update.
