Is it possible to have a startup page that's different to the homepage? In other words, one page that only shows when the browser is first started, and another that is shown whenever the 'Home' toolbar button is pressed.

I've been messing around with extensions for a while, and I'm pretty sure that somewhere along the line I managed to get this configuration, but now that I've finished with my test installs and I'm building my final setup, I can't figure out how to do it (or even be sure that I ever had it working like that at all).

I think it was when I was looking for ways to specify what to show when new tabs are launched, so it may have been something to do with a new tab extension.

Thanks for your reply, but none of your suggestions are relevant to my question. I was not asking about new tab tiles or how to set a home page etc.

However, I have since found my own solution to the issue.

I just added the desired url as a command line argument in my shortcut for Firefox. Now whenever I start Firefox I get the start page that I specified, but it doesn't affect my home page. So I can press the 'Home' button and get a page that is different to the one that showed at Firefox startup.

Hi Quisquose, I would not rule it out that there is some addon to do that but I am not aware of one, but you have a lot of options without even considering that.

What you may do is choose whether to show the tabs from last time or your home page. Note also that multiple home pages may be set up, and even if you start with tabs from last time you may click the home icon to open them.

Additionally there are pinned tabs you may set up, and also there are tiles on the newtab page you may customise.

Yes, I should have remembered that one. I am more used to telling people to remove such shortcuts than add them. Personally I just use bookmarks or pinned tabs I find them they faster & more flexible for me.
