ThunderBird: "checking password... Configuration could not be verified -- is the username incorrect or password wrong?"
Greetings from the Great Country of TEXAS,
I am a previous user of Linux and on a new 'Distro' PCLinuxOS 64bit using a NIC cable on this one and this last week managed to get it working on the net. Have installed Mozilla's FireFox and Thunder Bird both latest versions. Have three (3) email accounts all ready setup and getting the message, "Checking password... Configuration could not be verified -- is the username incorrect or password wrong?" not once but many times over. Reestablished them plus cone to my ISP and renewed/changed the password and still no luck. Yesterday evening one account did get verified, the other two did not. TODAY none can access to check mail and have re-verified the user names and passwords My other system, desktop is wireless, has a different email client and it has worked every day without an issue checking the mail Thunder Bird has not, except that one account yesterday. My other system is Win7 Professional SP1 64bit both computers are Dell.

One and ALL with the issues of logins with their ISP or any other that eventually get to YAHOO, let it be known my ISP is AT&T and they use YAHOO to handle our email. They have been notified the LARGE DOG in town is not happy. We will see how long this takes.1830hrs (civilian that is 6:30P.M. CDST) Thank you for reading my message

This issue has been resolved by my ISP. It is NO longer a problem. Wish I could say, "it was solved by posting here." The only thing is it was not in any thing handled by this Forum, was just letting another know what was ging on. Thank you for reading my posts. Have a great time in your future TIA, CU L8R, 'd' "LoneWanderer"
