I am running Windows 10 Pro and Firefox 57.0.1. I have (had) a bookmark that was under a top-level Bookmark called "Photography". The Bookmark was called "FORUMS". For some reason, when I open the Favorites folder using Windows Explorer, this book mark shows up and it is in the right place, yet it doesn't show up when I open Firefox. I can find some of the sub-folders that are contained within this missing folder by doing a "Search bookmarks" and a bookmark will show up, but I cannot find it in Firefox.

I am at a loss to understand what is happening. The "missing" bookmark shows up in the folder USERS/myname/FAVORITES/PHOTOGRAPHY in Windows Explorer, but not in the Favorites listing in Firefox.

Any insight that anyone can provide to help me fix this situation, will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles Try making a New Profile and running them in that.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Firefox doesn't store Bookmarks in the Windows Explorer Favorites. I think you may be viewing a different set of Favorites / Bookmarks.

Bookmarks in Firefox are stored in the places.sqlite file in the Profile folder. And Firefox Bookmarks aren't as easily viewed as IE Favorites are in the /USERS/myname/ folders in the operating system files - *.sqlite files aren't "human readable", an SQLite manager application is needed if you're not looking at your Bookmarks in Firefox.

the-edmeister, this is interesting information, however, it doesn't really help me find out what happened to my Bookmark folder. It is unfortunate that they are not "human readable" in the same way that IE Favourites are.

Where do I find the "Profile" folder"?

I just checked my laptop and it appears that the Bookmark folder that is "missing" on my desktop is still okay on my laptop. Is there a a way to move this folder from my laptop to my desktop? Alternatively, if necessary, is there a way to move the entire set of Favourites/Bookmarks from my laptop to my desktop as this would help to restore the majority of things that went missing and the two sets of Bookmarks (laptop and desktop) are not that far our of sync with each other?

Pkshadow, thanks for the information. I wasn'r aware of "Profiles" in Firefox, so it will take me a bit of time to read through all this stuff and try it out. I will have to study it for a day or so and then see if I can make it work. if in fact, it will work.

As I noted to ed-meister, if it is possible to move the Favourites/Book mark file from my laptop to my desktop, then this would solve a lot of the problem.
