Updated to Quantum 59.0.3. Click to change tab. Computer crashes. Message on blue screen not there long enough to read. Repeated three times in one evening. Have tried having Task manager open. Five or six instances of Firefox.exe, one actually got to above 2GB! Is this right?

HI, Yes that is fine in Task Manager as Firefox is a Multi-processor and multi-thread browser. It uses all cores of your cpu.

Please Copy/Paste about:preferences#privacy into the Address Bar then Enter. Go down to Heading Permissions and at the bottom that heading please make sure there is a Check Mark in the box for Prevent accessibility services from accessing your browser.

Then please go up to General --> Performance and untick everything. change the recommended size lower then see how it runs. Note: 1 = No Multiprocessor = slow again. Try 2, try higher, find the sweet spot. Restart Firefox after making these changes please. Note : Hardware Acceleration is for Video Card, Monitor to see if remain off or to turn back on.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

fyi : If you feel that your system is too old for it there is the Extended Release Version you could move down to. 52.7.4 Path Forward : Firefox 52.9.0esr out on June 26 (same time as 60.1.0esr) will be the last major update for Firefox 52 ESR apart from any 52.9.x esr updates for security or allowed stability fixes. Quantum Based : Firefox 60.2.0esr will be out Aug 21 and Firefox 52 ESR will be EOL then. So people will have to upgrade to 60.2.0esr to keep getting security updates if they have not manually upgraded to 60.x.o ESR already. Firefox 60 ESR will require Windows 7, 8, 10.

Also try :

Have tried your suggestions. No change. Managed to see blue screen message before it disappeared Driver IRQL not less or equal or something like that.

Did a search re Driver IRQL crashes. Seemed to be quite a few. Mentioned internet drivers have checked via windows and Intel both say drivers are up to date. Crashes only happen when I try to close a tab.

how does this apply to FreeBSD?

No idea. Am on Win7.

Ya hi, weird re FreeBSD.... Anyways please update or reinstall your Video Card Drivers. Always a issue for crashing. Firefox usually does not cause Blue Screen of Death (BSD)

Please find the DOS Command prompt and Right Click it and Run as Administrator then type : SFC /SCANNOW ( SFC<space>/SCANNOW) Reboot after please.

Run Did find corrupt files. Won't let me see log even as administrator. Will see if it makes any difference. Thanks for your efforts

Guess what! another three crashes. Accessed the premiership rugby site Crash one. Firefox tried to reload the tabs (3) and BSD again. Tried opening a new window no probs, but on trying the premiership rugby site again, BSD. Working now but I do need the info from that site. Everything points to video drivers but there must be some link with Firefox usage. Everything is supposedly up to date and AOK. What else to try?
