I cannot find the Export Bookmarks button referenced in this article https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/export-firefox-bookmarks-to-backup-or-transfer

The article's reference to "Library" after navigating you away from that menu to the Bookmarks menu is confusing, and I don't see the referenced button either in the Bookmarks Tools bar or the Bookmarks bar from the Library menu.

Hello Oldcastle,

You can also just press Ctrl + Shift + B - that will take you to the Library.

There you can click on "Import and Backup" => Export Bookmarks to HTML

Does that make it easier  ?

Thank you! Why doesn't that article just say that? As-is it seems inaccurate. Am I missing something or does it not seem to lead you to being able to export bookmarks either?

It does mention it, but it is a bit obscure .....

But you can find it now (I hope  ?)

Looking at your screenshots I get the impression that you clicked on the wrong buttons (very understandable though .... )

I found it via the instructions YOU gave, but the ones given in the article i linked to do not display that button anywhere. I was just wondering if you were able to see the button following the article's instructions.

The second screenshot in your above reply shows "Show All Bookmarks" at the very bottom of the image, so you might have missed it. If you have the Firefox menu bar visible then it might be easier to use its Bookmarks menu or add the Bookmarks Menu to the Navigation Toolbar (see further down).

Since your are on Mac, you probably only see icons on the toolbar in the Bookmarks Manager (Library) and not text labels, so you might easily miss the "Import & Backup" button, the third button on the toolbar in the Library that shows as a star.

You can add the "Bookmarks Menu" button that shows the bookmarks in a drop-down list to the Navigation Toolbar via these steps:

  • click the bookshelf 57 library icon icon on the Navigation Toolbar or alternatively use the Library menu in the "3-bar" Firefox menu button New Fx Menu drop-down list
  • click Bookmarks
  • click "Bookmarking Tools", then click "Add Bookmarks Menu to Toolbar"
The Bookmark Menu button Bookmark Menu icon (star on tray) should appear on the Navigation Toolbar.

You can also drag the Bookmarks Menu button from the Customize palette to the Navigation Toolbar
