How do I make my Homepage different from New Windows?
Currently, whatever link(s) you set as your Homepage is also the same link(s) that appears when you open a New Window. The way that New Window is inherently clumped together with the Homepage seems to make it impossible to separate the two in the Options settings.
What is the logic behind this? Why have a separate setting for New Tab, but not New Window? I like having Firefox open up multiple tabs as my homepage when I first boot up Firefox, but if I want to open up a new window just for screen management space with Ctrl+N, I really am not interested in my homepages being re-instantiated, as I already have them open on my first window.
I really want my Homepages to remain a custom mix of tabs with any New Tab and New Window opening up to a Firefox's default new tab page. Is that not possible? I can't have a custom Homepage without also having a custom New Window configuration? :(
It just seems like an arbitrary distinction. What can I do to make this magical world of separate Homepage and New Window settings happen?
Sincerely, A Fan

Currently (well, since the beginning), there's no way to set startup tabs separately from new window tabs.
Some workarounds:
(1) To open the new tab page in a new window, you could Shift+click the + button on the Tabs bar
Generally speaking Shift+clicking directs links and bookmarks to a new window.
(2) You cold look at the Pinned Tabs feature to leverage Firefox's session history as a way to re-open those sites at startup.
More info here: Pinned Tabs - keep favorite websites open and just a click away.
(3) You could modify your desktop shortcut to list URLs to open when you click it so they don't need to be listed in the home page setting.
Examples in old threads:
- multiple tabs in one window: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1179525

Well, I guess that's better than nothing. It still seems completely arbitrary to me why this couldn't be a configurable setting, or why Shift Clicking the + button can't simply be assigned to Ctrl+N, but whatever, I'll take it.
Well, support volunteers can only do so much. To pursue changes in Firefox, you have many choices, depending on your desired style of interaction.
