Hi,

I recently installed Thunderbird. I tested using my gmail account. The mail didn't go through. I have checked spam as well. Yet when I send an email from Thunderbird to gmail, and then respond, I receive the response in Thunderbird.

Could you please advise on how to receive emails from Gmail accounts?

I am new to Thunderbird.

Thanks in advance. Chris

Do you get any error message?

Are you trying to send a message to yourself, i.e. to your own Gmail account? In that case you won't see anything in your Inbox, because the message is already in your Sent folder. It's not something Thunderbird does, it's just how Gmail works.

Hi,

No I did not try send an email to myself. I have set up a different email account with a registered domain and I am using an email created on that domain. I tested with my original email to the new email address to check that I is working. It sends the email, and receives responses, but does not receive the original email sent from gmail.

I don't think I fully understand your account setup. Can you be a little more specific about what message you sent from which account to which other account when there is a problem?

Hi,

The account set up in Thunderbird is chris@catscanflydigital.com. I then used my personal gmail account and sent an email to the above email address. The mail sent from my side, but was never received in the above email inbox.

I then proceeded to send an email from chris@catscanflydigital.com to my personal gmail account. The email was received. I responded to the email to see if it would go through, and was received in the inbox of the above said email.

Basically, when I send an email from any Gmail account I don't receive the mails in my Thunderbird inbox, but if I send an email first from the above account, and someone replies, the mail is then received in the chris@catscanflydigital.com inbox.

Hope this clarifies my predicament.

Thank in advance. Chris

I then used my personal gmail account and sent an email to the above email address. The mail sent from my side, but was never received in the above email inbox.

Once a copy of the sent message shows up in the Gmail account Sent folder, the message has been sent successfully. Whether the message makes it to the intended recipient is beyond Thunderbird's control.

I then proceeded to send an email from chris@catscanflydigital.com to my personal gmail account. The email was received.

So that confirms sending and receiving from/to the Gmail account works.

Basically, when I send an email from any Gmail account I don't receive the mails in my Thunderbird inbox, but if I send an email first from the above account, and someone replies, the mail is then received in the chris@catscanflydigital.com inbox.

I do understand your point, however, technically there is no difference between sending a new message or responding to a message previously received.

Did you try to logon to your catscanflydigital.com account via webmail, and check whether the message exists on the server, either in Inbox, or Spam, or any other folder on the server?

What is your account type in Thunderbird for the catscanflydigital.com account - POP or IMAP?
