I was going to switch from Chrome to Firefox on my iphone, but FF is telling me I need to set up Touch ID/passcode to use the saved passwords feature. I don't want to do this and don't see a way around it. Is there any option to decline this? If not, I guess I'll be stuck with Chrome for now! Couldn't find an answer to this anywhere. Would love some help.

Hey there! Totally get your concern. If you're not comfortable setting up a passcode or Touch ID for autofill passwords, you can still use Firefox without enabling that feature. It's all about choices, right? So, go ahead and use Firefox without worrying about this specific setting. Your privacy and preferences matter to us. Feel free to explore Firefox on iOS and enjoy a browsing experience that fits your comfort zone. If you need further assistance or have more questions, just let me know.

Thanks for the response. I'll continue using other browsers then. I have a disability that affects the use of my hands, which means filling out a password every time is an accessibility issue for me, as is setting up Touch ID/passcode for other reasons. I wish the developers would have considered disabled users' needs more.

I do find it a bit baffling that a browser that is meant to be so community-centric refuses to give users the option to choose here. We should be allowed to make our own decision on this. I don't have this problem with any other browser. It's just weird to me that the choice was completely taken away.

Anyway, thanks again for the response. I might consider Firefox again someday if you ever take more time to consider what disabled users need and also consider trusting your users to make their own choices. But unless that happens I won't be using Firefox and won't recommend it to anyone I know who is also disabled.

I'm not going to mark this question as solved because it didn't solve the issue, so you can go ahead and close it or whatever. I just don't want to give anyone who searches for this question in the future false hope that it has a good answer. Thanks.

Hi

The answer you were previously given is not one that a few of us here would support.

There is a password that will need to be entered to access the password list in Firefox for iOSto prevent someone with access to your device having easy access to your user credentials.

The autofill facility that uses the saved passwords may make your browsing experience easier by entering user credentials for various online services that you use without having to enter them manually.
