Yahoo Mail Not Working Right
I have both the latest version of Firefox, which is OK, and an older version that has issues with Yahoo Mail.
Firefox 3.6.12 used to work with Yahoo Mail but not anymore so it has to be Yahoo that is doing something wrong and I will NOT upgrade anything on this old laptop!!!
Yahoo Mail just does not work right. I try a NEW mail and there is no message body. Viewing mail only shows the header. IE 6 still works but THEY (Yahoo) says I need to upgrade - NOT!!!
I have a newer netbook with VISTA (ARGHHHH!!!) and Firefox 7.0.1 and everything works except for some glitches in add-ons.
I am seriously sick of UPGRADES that don't work right!!! My netbook has had three versions of Firefox and other upgrades to get VISTA and things working somewhat right. And my laptop... too old for the NEW upgrades; WinXP worked and VISTA or Win7 are CRAP!!! And now that Apple has ripped out the Motorola heart and put in Intel and Windows compatibility... ARGHHHH!!!

Hi Caltrop, based on what I'm reading I have a similar problem. Can you elaborate on what you did to fix it? I consider myself a junior techie but wasn't able to decipher what you were saying. Maybe explaining it like I'm a child might help make it easier for me to see your step-by-step resolution. Thx!
After checking my add-ons & plug-ins I noticed I don't have this AdBlocker Plus that you speak of. Does that make a difference in correcting the issue?

Try updating your "Adblock Plus": subscriptions.
In Firefox, if you have "Adblock Plus" extension.
- "Ctrl+Shift+F" Preferences (or right click on ABP symbol, and choose preferences)
- 'Filters' menu > "Update all subscriptions"
reference:
NOPE! Updating did nothing. But disabling Adblock Plus does work and now Yahoo Mail and all it's annoying ads work like they should.
But Adblock Plus causes no problems with the newer version of Firefox.
GARGHHHH! I hate all this Computer CRAP! THEY always find a way to mess things up that work right.
Thanks anyway. At least we know it is Adblock Plus & Yahoo that are messed up and not my beloved old computer and aging Firefox because I abhor VISTA!!!
I got an update to AdBlock Plus and it still does not work right.
We have figured that AdBlock is the cause of all the grief for Yahoo Mail. So I turned it off just for Yahoo Mail and it works again.
I did notice that the ADS overlap the frames inside the window so I expect that is the issue FireFox needs to address. It causes things to NOT work right in Yahoo Mail.
Old IE6 works fine with Yahoo Mail but FireFox handles new web sites better and I like the TABS & stuff in FireFox!
FYI: Still using FireFox 3.6.12 on my ole XP computer. I have a vile VISTA netbook that has a newer FireFox and I have not had any issues with Yahoo Mail with it.
So again, TURN OFF ADDBLOCK FOR YAHOO MAIL!
Problem solved, sort of...
Adblock Plus is blocking too much for Yahoo email inbox
Well you're almost there, you've isolated the problem to "Adblock Plus".
You blocked too much. The picture shows what is blocked in ABP on my Yahoo inbox using "Open Blockable Items" ("Ctrl+Shift+V" or right click on the ADP toolbar icon). The list is sorted on "State" column and shows the involved filter, if you are blocking more that what is shown in red you are probably blocking too much. Columns are selectable via the small icon at the far right of the column headings in the "Blockable Items" ADP window.
The subscription filters are pretty good at filtering out the files that generate a lot more unwanted files.
By mousing over the filtered file, you can see what filter is involved, and which filter group it belongs to. You can click on the red "X" under State to turn a filter off. That will be reflected in your Preferences by unchecking the filter there.
The Preferences list is brought up with left click on "ADP" icon then Preferences using "Ctrl+Shift+F" if no conflicts with the keyboard shortcut.
In your Preferences list you can deactivate or reactivate an entire filter subscription or any of the filters within.
Adblock Plus is very customizable. Each persons use is a little different.

Make sure that JavaScript is turned on Tools > Options > Content
Yes, JAVA Script is ON. Always has been ON.
Thanks dmcritchie. I played around with the settings and got it working right and still blocking ads.
I never messed with the settings before. The defaults always worked until a short while ago.
Now I'm back in business with FireFox & Yahoo Mail and NO ADS!
It was partly Yahoo's fault as well for changing things yet again.
Thanks Again!
This is what I found is causing the problem: yimg.com/*/lib/bc
It by default is blocked but you need to unblock it. It will cause the check boxes not to work and reading mail, new mail, etc.
This one is another Yahoo thing but needs to be blocked: ads.yimg.com

Someone else said what to do but not what so here it is.
Go to the Ad Block Plus Icon in the Tool Bar and select Open Blockable Items or use CTRL-SHF-V.
You are looking for ?.yimg.com. Unblock everything except the ads.yimg.com.
This is the first time I've had to do this.
My Yahoo Mail started working right again. :)
