How to set up certs for default user profile

I am trying to create a package to install Firefox in our corporate environment that contains our locally issued certificates. We can manually import the certs, but since Firefox is part of our corporate image, I would like to have the certs already installed for users as they open FF for the first time.

I have written a script that installs Firefox 22, copies files customized files into the correct locations, creates a new profile folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\profile) and copies the cert8.db file into that newly created folder. However, when a user opens FF for the first time, none of our certs are installed. If I close FF, copy the same cert8.db file into the C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<random string>.default folder and then re-open FF, the certs are now showing up as installed.

How can I automate this so that every user that opens FF will have the correct certs applied?

This is for the initial install of Firefox. Firefox 22, version 22.0.0.4917 Windows 7, 64-bit

hello keslaa, from firefox 21 on & upwards this information would need to go into %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Mozilla Firefox\browser\defaults\profile in order to take effect.

Phillipp,

That was it! Thank you!

I have the same problem, but sadly that doesn't work for me :( I also save the cert8.db into browser\defaults\profile, but the user profile makes it's own cert8.db

Hi EbrithilBowser

Does the file work if you manually place it in the profile folder?

Are other files that you place in the browser\defaults\profile copied?

Yes, it works if i place it manually

There are no other files, but i tried saving another file in the folder, which was copied into the profiles without problems
