Mozilla has ended support for Firefox Lite on June 30, 2021. This application may continue to work on your device, but it will no longer receive support or security updates. When you capture screenshots, Firefox Lite determines which of the 11 categories that website belongs to and anonymously lets Mozilla know to which categories they were captured. This information lets us understand what the most popular categories are and helps us improve the screenshot feature experience. Mozilla does not see the URL, image of the page or any information that identifies you.

If you don't want to send Mozilla this information, you can turn this setting off at any time.

Turn off category collection

  1. Tap the menu button (three dots) at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap the switch next to Send usage data to turn it on or off. Blue means it's on.

What are the categories?

Website types are grouped into 11 categories:

  • Search engine
  • Video
  • Social network
  • Web portal
  • Web portal (Articles)
  • Shopping
  • Collaborative
  • Email
  • Weblog
  • Banking
  • Other

You can view each screenshot’s category when you check the screenshot info page in Firefox Lite.

Mozilla receives only the anonymized category for the screenshot. It does not see the URL or any information that identifies you.
