for two specific work sites suddenly it will not save my log in or password. Both of these sites have been saved in the past but now neither are even in the folder of saved passwords and will not give me the option of saving. I have checked all your trouble shooting and made sure all appropriate boxes are checked and neither are in the exception table. os is windows 7

hello, websites can specify if browsers should be able to save username/passwords (through the autocomplete="off" attribute in the login form in the html source code) - this is often the case when a higher level of security is presumably required by those sites.

you can either install an addon, use a bookmarklet or upgrade to current release versions of the browser to circumvent this restriction.

Details like websites remembering you (log you in automatically) are stored in a cookie.

  • Create a cookie 'allow' exception to keep such cookies, especially in case of secure websites and when cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
  • Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: Exceptions

If clearing cookies didn't help then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies got corrupted.

  • Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookies files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox profile folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
