Several days ago downloaded and installed Flash Player 14.0.0.179 in response to update message from Adobe. Firefox 31.0 does not recognise Flash Player 14.0.0.179 as a plug-in.

Previous version (not known) of Flash Player worked OK.

You can find the latest Flash player versions for Firefox on this page:

Don't you see the Flash plugin on the "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins" and on the about:plugins page?

Is the Flash plugin (NPSWF32_14_0_0_179.dll) for Firefox present in the expected location?

  • 32 bit Windows: C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\
  • 64 bit Windows: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\

If the plugin is there, but Firefox doesn't find it then you may be missing the registry key(s) that Firefox uses to scan for plugins. In that case you may need to run the Flash installer as Administrator.
