Why do Sent messages from one of two accounts with BTInternet.com fail to appear in the Sent folder?

more options

For over a year I've been using BTInternet.com in IMAP mode on a laptop and a desktop PC. A few days ago I noticed that some of my sent messages had failed to appear in the Sent folder on my Desktop PC. When I tried to recover them using the Repair Folder option all of the existing messages disappeared.

When I checked the Sent folder on my laptop the files were still present but when I used the Repair Folder option they also diappeared and as with my desktop PC new messages fail to appear in the sent folder. When I use Firefox to access my e-mail account on the BT server all of my sent messages are shown correctly.

I have tried all of the solutions suggested for this problem but none have helped. As a temporary work around I've used the option to include my e-mail address in a BCC copy and save these messages to a Local Sent folder,

Any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated.

Update.

When I switched on my laptop this morning I found that although I hadn't made any changes 17 messages had appeared in the Sent folder and everything appeared to be working normally again.

When I checked my desktop PC I found that it also had 17 messages in the Sent folder and everything appeared to be working normally.

Looking back at the content of the messages in the newly recovered Sent folder I can see that the problem occurred 5 days ago, shortly after I'd been unable to send a message due to the Check Spelling window failing to open after the Spellchecker had highlighted an unfamiliar word.

As I haven't made any changes to either PC I'm unable to offer an explanation for the disappearance of the problem with the Sent folder.
