resize message pane
Just saw that Thunderbird was updated to version 38.0.1 and I found that the + in the message pane is missing and now displays all the email info in that area. Previously I was able, using a + button in the top left corner, change the size, thus changing the info displayed. The + is missing and I cannot find a way to change the size of the header in the message pane.
Chosen solution
Tools menu (alt+T) > add-ons and locate the entry for the compact header add-on and enable it.
I am using the 2.1 version in daily builds. So it will work with Version 38

sounds like you are refering to seeing the full list of headers or the abbreviated list showing To FROM, Subject ,Date
to see short formate: 'View' > 'Headers' > select 'normal'
To see full headers; 'View' > 'Headers' > select 'All'
Nope that's not it. My layout has all the folders to the left, all the messages in that folder to the right, and below is the preview of the message selected. Part of the preview is a small horizontal window that shows the From, Subject, and To listed. Previous versions allowed you to shrink that area and only show one line of information. By using a small + to the top left of that window you could then expand to show From, Subject, and To if you wanted. I just want that option or a way to decrease that area. The area also has icons to the left and shows the info on the message as well. Its pretty much in the middle of the page.

Thank you that corrected the problem.
