Why did my home page disappear?

Cannot access my home page. I can get to my bookmarks and the rest of the internet, but when I click on the Mozilla Firefox icon, it takes me to a page that says "Page Not Found." I did not alter the home page or the Firefox access in any way. The page has disappeared.

I can actually live without it if I have to, but I like the little news updates and the easy access to my e-mail.

I'm just mystified that without any apparent reason the home page suddenly was gone. I have rebooted the computer many times but the page does not come back.

Try resetting your Homepage. See - How to set the home page

I tried restoring the home page through following the instructions on how to set the home page. I clicked the "restore as default" button but nothing happened. I tried restarting the computer, but the home page still gives me the message of "Page Not Found."

What is the URL (web address) showing in the Location Bar for that "page not found"?

Overall, by resetting to the Default Homepage you should have gotten about:home with the Firefox logo, the Search Container below it, the "snippet" of the day, and a row of icons for various menu functions within Firefox. ".. little news updates and the easy access to my e-mail." would be a Userset Homepage. So either you installed something that changed your "default" (which isn't working correctly any longer) OR you have picked up some Malware which changed it.

First things to do is try the Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox SafeMode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

Then see this - Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware

I'm curious why you haven't updated to Firefox 42 yet? Has important fixes to prevent Malware from changing certain preferences, like the New Tab Page.

The URL is https://att.net/attportal/s/context.dll?type=page&id=250&name=home.page.attyahoo.redirect&redirecturl=https://att.yahoo.com/

I tried the Firefox Safe Mode but I got a message that the "connection is unsafe".

As for Firefox 42, I was never notified that there was an upgrade available. Is the upgrade free or is there a cost?

Thanks!

Firefox 42 will be released in about a week (Nov 3).

If you use a bookmark to open a specific page on the server then try to navigate to that page starting with the main page or the sign in page of the website in case this bookmark is currently broken.

It is not a good idea to bookmark a page that has possibly been requested by sending a form with POST data or that might expire otherwise.
