TB 38.5.0 has a file, 'completed,' in profiles/ImapMail=5.9 GB. Hard to migrate to new PC. How can I shrink this or remove it?

Had to use 7zip to compress/expand file. I have several e-mail accounts in TB. The, I renamed it to completed.sav just for kicks and found that TB seems to be working perfectly well without it.

TB seems to be working perfectly well without it.

Of course it does. Just with 5.9 GB worth of email less than it used to be. If you don't care about that mail just carry on.

That's the point! All e-mails seem to be present and accounted for...

Then I'm not sure what kind of answer you expect here. Nobody other than you knows what mail is in that 5.9 GB folder, and nobody else can take the decision for you what to do with it.

You can try to compact that folder though, may be it will get smaller after that. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Compacting_folders

Make sure you do have a backup before you start messing with it. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_FAQs_:_Backing_Up_and_Restoring
