Firefox has updated to the latest version, but looking in my bookmarks I find that all the folders have gone and there is a selection of bookmarks listed but by no means all of them. I must have about 100 bookmarks, many essential for my business. I have tried restoring from an older backup - as far back as September - but it makes no difference. Please help.

Mozilla changed the toolbar button for the Navigation Toolbar. The button that is there by default only displays a truncated list and no folder; but if you had looked in the Bookmarks Sidebar or used the Bookmarks menu item on the Menu Bar (use the Alt key to see the Menu Bar) you would have found all your bookmarks.

To get the full Bookmarks Menu display button onto the Navigation Toolbar this is the "fix".

  • Click on the 57 library icon library icon and go to bookmarks > bookmarking tools > add bookmarks menu to the toolbar.
  • Then you click the Bookmark Menu icon (star on tray) icon that's newly appearing on the toolbar, you'll get to the same bookmarks menu like in earlier versions...

I lost all of my bookmarks several weeks ago & I can't find a way to get them back. I tried restoring them but it says its unable to restore from file or something like that. I tried renaming the places.sqlite file(which worked a couple times a few months or so ago) but doesn't work now. I tried adding the star bookmark to the top menu & still no bookmarks. I have Windows 8.1 desktop computer with most current updates of Firefox. When I go in to try & restore them the last date that's showing with all my bookmarks is 12-16-17. But it won't restore them. & it won't let me bookmark anything now either. Please help!!!! Please!!! I really need to get my bookmarks back. Thank you!
