While composing an email, I will sometime backspace or highlight text and delete. At that point, when I start typing again, the text will often be a different font and very tiny (6pt or so). In general many of my recipients complain that my messages are in very small text and the paragraphs run together, although it looks fine to me when I send.

Thanks, TyDraniu. There's a lot to read and I haven't done it all yet, but it looks like there's some possible info I can use. Unfortunately, I see the posts go from 8 years ago to a year ago, but as of yesterday the problem seems to still persist. I'll try some of the workarounds mentioned and try to pay attention to exactly which actions on my part cause the problem.
