Has anyone else had issues opening .mp3 files in audacity from firefox?

Weird thing that just recently started happening to me; I usually have audacity as my default program to open downloaded mp3 files from firefox, but it's been giving me trouble. Whenever I try to open up the file, audacity gives me numerous error messages, each error message is that audacity is looking in my System32 folder for a file corresponding to each letter in the filename of what i downloaded (ex: E.mp3, X.mp3, A.mp3, M.mp3, P.mp3, L.mp3, E.mp3.) Opening the files up in AIMP works fine. Opening the files in audacity from the folder works fine too.

Running on windows 10, firefox version 72.

Hi finder891, I haven't had any problems with it with Audacity already open or closed.

Try Firefox in it's Safe Mode to see if the problem persists: Safe Mode will temporarily disable your extensions and themes, turn off hardware acceleration and reset toolbar and button customizations. When you leave Safe Mode and start Firefox up normally, your extensions, themes, and settings will return to the state they were in before you entered Safe Mode.

With Firefox open: select Menu select Help select Restart With Add-ons Disabled on the dialog select Restart on the next dialog select Start In Safe Mode (Do Not select Refresh)

With Firefox closed: press and hold the Shift (in Mac: Option) key launch Firefox on the dialog select Start In Safe Mode (Do Not select Refresh) ______________________________________________________

To quit Safe Mode: select Menu select Help select Restart With Add-ons Enabled

Or, Exit Firefox.
