How do I block address bar for searches?

How do I turn off the address bar for searches?

I do not use the address bar for searches and I do not want to use the address bar for searches.

Every time I click on a new tab, regardless of the search engine I'm using, and I start typing in the search box, it jumps up to the address bar.

That is incredibly annoying.

Also, how do I roll-back to a previous version of Firefox? Because these changes don't get it. The bookmarks on older versions were easy to access and beautifully arranged and now I have to jump through hoops and the only way to see all of my bookmarks is to go to Manage Bookmarks.
