Thunderbird will not allow me to add my proton mail account. When trying to set it up Thunderbird connects with my Proton account to get the proper configuration settings but when I press "Done" I get the message, "Unable to log in at server, Probably wrong username, password or configuration."

I have changed settings various ways and have made an exception for cookies from proton.me as suggested in a help entry but nothing I do allows it to connect. The username and password have been checked and rechecked and they are correct.

I also have a Porkbun email account that I tried to add to Thunderbird and got the very same failure and have never been able to get it to work.

Please help

Here's a tip that 'may' work: Leave off the password until account is confirmed. Enter password only when prompted by Thunderbird when retrieving email. This approach has worked for many users.
