Thunderbird Japanese input not working
Hi. I have three input languages installed on my system, Maori, German and Japanese (Mozc). I can toggle through all languages and input them in the system and all software except for Thunderbird. At random times, the Japanese language support seems to be gone from the input menu and I can't switch to it with keyboard shortcuts either. This appears random and it works sometimes, sometimes not. Therefore, I don't know how to reproduce the error, but it is very frustrating since I have to search for and write emails in Japanese quite frequently. I am running Thunderbird 102.4.2 on Ubuntu 22.04.1. Any help or suggestions are much appreciated!

Have you tried reinstalling? reference https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1787509
Apologies for the long delay in my response. I have tried reinstalling several times and tried to get a better understanding of what the error is. The problem remains.
I don't know enough about the input system to debug much, but the error is quite peculiar: It seems to occur (sometimes) when I start composing a new email or reply to someone, at which point the cursor is at the top of the email, in "paragraph" style. When I move the cursor to the cited content in a reply, the style changes to "body text", at which point Japanese becomes available again. I am about to reinstall the entire system and see if that helps - unless anybody has an idea for a solution...
Modified
I doubt reinstall would help.
We are within months of shipping the next major version, so my next advice is to try beta from https://www.mozilla.org/thunderbird/beta/all/ or https://launchpad.net/~mozillateam/+archive/ubuntu/thunderbird-next
