Install Firefox again with a full installer. You shouldn't lose any data.

The full offline setup for Windows can be downloaded from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release as downloading Firefox from Windows from mozilla.org may serve you the small online stub installer.

An error message like XPCOM missing or about platform version or entry points not found can happen because of a failed Firefox update that left you with a mixture of old and updated files in the Firefox installation folder.

This can happen in case security software was keeping a handle of some of the files in the Firefox program folder preventing Firefox from replacing all the files.

You may have to disable security software temporarily in case the problem persists.

What security software do you have as we have recently seen an unusual number of such reports ?

Note that current is 127.0.2.

The error message says version 129 is not compatible with 128.03. I am a non technical type of user and not really sure how to reinstall without losing my passwords and bookmarks

You need to reinstall Firefox and possibly remove the Firefox program folder to ensure that all files are replaced.

You may have to disable security software temporarily in case the problem persists.

See Reinstall Firefox:

Your personal data like bookmarks is stored in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose personal data when you reinstall or update Firefox, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.

When you go to the official site to download Firefox to reinstall, it should install itself over the old copy of Firefox without damaging it or erasing your passwords and bookmarks.

It is safe to do. You should only worry about data loss like that when uninstalling Firefox.

Try to install Firefox again from here: https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release

Please report back if this fixed the error message. Thanks
