Whenever I try to watch a video in youtube, a message appears saying adobe flash plugin has crashed. I've read that firefox upgraded to 3.6.6 to fix this particular problem, but I already have firefox 3.6.6, and I'm at a loss what to do next

Thanks for that, I had this problem too and it solved it out for me.

The only problem was to be able to find a flash video that would work, you might want to try to open a youtube link that somebody posted on facebook, and than right click it and disable hardware accelaration.
