Why is BitDefender using the file "parent.lock"

I have read about all the different articles concerning the message "Firefox is already running but is not responding...." and tried all the different solutions proposed (using task manager, etc..) without success. The problem is that Firefox is not running and has closed normally.

I then decided to use "Process Explorer" (software) to see if another running software could be using the file "parent.lock". Well, I was surprise to find-out that my Internet security software "BitDefender Internet Security 2010" was using (handle) that file. Using "Process Explorer", I asked "Process Explorer" to remove BitDefender's handle on "parent.lock" and VOILA!, I could start Firefox again without any problems. I have since repeated this operation a few times (every time Firefox gives me the above mentioned message) and every time, the problem is always BitDefender having a handle on "parent.lock".

Anyone knows how to resolve this?

Thanks

i have same prob with firefox and thunderbird due to bitdefender, im looking to fix it by removing a dll file from bitdefenders directory not sure what file it would be, i have stripped the services and .sys files and am only running vsserv and bdfsfltr.sys and it still removes viruses automatically on detection. I dont want the internet scanning as it had stopped all emails from google, no options in the app to deactivate them. if anyone knows if its a .dll loading up firefox please post.
