I don't know what plug-ins or extensions are used nor do i know if some setting is set properly. this is the first and only time i've experienced this problem w/\Firefox. i am not able to enter more than 1 character in the crossword puzzle on msnbc.com. i can enter 1 letter, i can navigate through the puzzle using the appropriate keys, but can't enter any more letters. if i delete the 1 letter, i can't re-enter it. if i open Internet Explorer, it works each and every time.

That is a Flash object.

You can try to clear the Flash local objects.

Flash Website Storage Settings panel:

See also Flash Local storage settings:

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

thank you for responding. i tried each of the recommendations posted and i still have the same problem. i've disabled, updated, and re-enabled plug-ins as suggested and still no change. i did notice that when i tried to update the RealPlayer Flash plug-in it said it would install when a conflicting application (Firefox) was closed. Don't know if that means anything or not. could it be i'm using the wrong flash player? is there more than 1?
